MESSINA CLASSES 2013
*** WE’RE SORRY TO SAY THAT ALL CLASSES IN 2013 ARE NOW SOLD OUT. TO GET ADVANCE NOTIFICATION OF 2014 RELEASE, PLEASE JOIN OUR MAILING LIST BY SIGNING UP OVER THERE —>
For anyone interested in finding out what goes on behind the scenes at Messina, we will be holding our ‘Gelato Appreciation Classes’ approx every 4 weeks from FEB 2013. Part gelato making class, part info session, part science lesson, and part gelato feast, it’s a slightly different concept to previous years and will include a visit to our Rozelle factory as well as our flagship Darlinghurst stores. With our new Rozelle factory site up and running, we thought it might be nice to show you what goes on in the gelato epicentre and let you in on a few of our gelato secrets..
In a nut shell, we meet at our Darlinghurst store at 9am before being driven by bus to our Rozelle site. On the bus, you’ll get a quick intro into our business, get a little history of how it came to be, our philosophy, and what it is about Messina that makes us a little different to other gelato pushers.
Once we hit the factory we’ll prepare and churn 2 flavours (maybe more) and explain the process and recipes whilst we churn.. After that, we eat it. We’ll make one of our specialty gelato cakes, explain the technique behind it, and give you some insight into how we construct such delights at sub zero temps.. (which again, you get to eat)..
When class is over, the gluttony really begins with our bus taking you back to Darlinghurst for a tasting session where get to try as many flavours in the cabinet as you can handle.. Time permitting, you’ll get through up to 40 flavours.. At the end, we roll you out with a tub of gelato so you can go home and really do a number on yourself!
We also provide a few recipes by email on request so you can ‘try this at home kids’.
You’ll be most pleased to know we’ve increased class sizes slightly to deal with the demand, but with a change in format/scope and with the addition of the fun bus, prices have had to increase this year unfortunately.. The cost is now $120 per person. Classes start at 9.00AM, and go till 12 midday (approx) on a Saturday morning. Online bookings can be made below.
