We were very lucky that two artists Anthony Lister and Kate Banazi did a print for us. Both of them do stuff we think is pretty awesome. You might have seen Lister’s murals around Sydney, on vans on walls, on bus stops.

  • 6pm: Head to the Messina Creative Department & sit down for a 7-course degustation with accompanying liquid concoctions We’re promising you a menu of fresh, seasonal, experimental creations that are designed to excite and challenge your palate. And you’ll leave pretty full…no need to eat much before.
  • 8pm: Make your way to Sydney Opera House for award-winning director Kip Williams’ bold new interpretation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Venturing deep into the woods of sexual desire, this is not a Dream you’ve seen before, and it won’t be one you’ll soon forget.
  • 11pm: That’s it. Hopefully you’ll be suitably fed, cultured and ready for bed.

MESSINA EATS: WONDERBAO

If you didn’t make it to MESSINA EATS: HUXTABURGER, get ready for round two… MESSINA EATS: WONDERBAO.

We’ve started to run monthly (or so) two-day pop up events, mainly fuelled by how much we love eating. We’re aiming to bring some our favourite and the most f*cking delicious food creators we could think of to Sydney. They look after the lunch & dinner and we do dessert.

This time around we’re feeding our obsession with baos. WONDERBAOS to be precise. WONDERBAO have one tiny shop in Melbourne where they pump out some of the best gua baos we’ve tried (and we’ve tried a lot).  Andrew, one of the owners, has spent years perfecting the art of handmade bao pastry and traditional BBQ pork buns.

Plus, we’re making deep fried ice cream balls for 2 days only! Come join us…

WHEN: 29/30TH JULY. 12pm – late both days

The Lowdown on Newtown

You read that right, Messina is coming to Newtown. We’ve been toying with the idea for years but finding the right home has proven to be elusive. Until now!

We’re completely chuffed to say we are taking over from long time Newtown stalwarts – Gelatomassi. After 14 successful years, the boys are moving on… and Messina’s moving in!

With any luck, we should be open by the end of August.

“I’ve known the boys from Massi since they opened their doors in 2003. We’ve always liked Newtown as a potential destination but the truth is it felt a bit crowded with gelato operators so the time was never quite right. With the boys now moving on, it felt like a nice transition for everyone. We move into a site with a bit of history and take over from someone that’s been a true local in the Newtown food scene for years.  Gelatomassi’s longest serving employee is even staying on to help steer the ship!” Nick Palumbo (Messina)

HILLS FOOD FESTIVAL – MESSINA’S INTERNATIONAL SOUP KITCHEN

This weekend we’re popping up at THE HILLS FOOD FEST at the AUSTRALIAN BREWERY  in Rouse Hill.  MESSINA’S INTERNATIONAL SOUP KITCHEN is making a come back with all of it’s finest ‘dessert in a can’ creations, including BLACK FOREST BISQUE, FAUX PHO, ZUPPA DUPPA and the AMERICAN CHOW DOWN.

We’re excited to have our first stand in The Hills, and to be surrounded by other great vendors like; Bao Stop, Hoy Pinoy BBQ and craft beer and cider from the Australian Brewery + there’ll be live music, kids activities and a JUMPING CASTLE.

Come along to our 2 DAY LUNCH AND DINNER POP UP extravaganza hosted in our very own carpark at MESSINA HQ ROSEBERY (58 Mentmore Ave).

Expect a day and night filled with eats, beats and community feasts with our special guests all the way from Melbourne – HUXTABURGER AND MR CLAWS serving up the best burgers (vegetarian available) and finest lobster rolls + chips.  We’ll also have handmade soda on tap by our friends at PS SODA.

We’ll be churning out our famous CREMINO CHOC TOPS + all your favourite scoops will be available at our Rosebery store.

If that wasn’t enough, there’ll also be live music with local loop pedal artist Mark Crotti dropping in to serenade us.

Pop up delivery will be available via Deliveroo for all menu items.

TRUFFLE WEEK IS TAKING OVER THE MESSINA CREATIVE DEPARTMENT

**JULY 20-23**

Creating a night that will test all senses, the king of the fungi family is making a guest appearance at the CREATIVE DEPARTMENT for 4 evenings.  Saluting truffles from around Australia and Europe, our head chef will be reinventing the 7 course degustation, paired non alcoholic drinks and nectars of the gods to champion the truffle delicacy in each and every dish.

BOOKINGS
Regular and Truffle Week tickets are now available through our booking system.  Select a date between 20-23rd July for TRUFFLE WEEK bookings. Bookings are available in groups of 2,4,6 or 8.
